Key concepts

A handful of ideas explain almost everything in the product.
| Concept | What it is |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Your organization's private space: its users, flows, connections and settings. Nothing is shared between workspaces. |
| Environment | A separate copy of your work inside the workspace, for example Development, Staging and Production. Each has its own flows, connections and variables. You switch environment in the top bar and move work between them with promotions. |
| Project | A folder that groups flows and connections and controls who can see and edit them. |
| Flow (workflow) | A pipeline on a canvas. Data enters at a trigger and travels along edges through nodes (also called steps). |
| Trigger | What starts a flow: a webhook call, a form submission, a schedule, a poll for changes, a live stream, or you pressing Run. |
| Node / step / shape | One unit of work on the canvas. Shapes are the built-in node types (Filter, Loop, Map fields, Wait for form, and so on). Adapter nodes call an outside system. |
| Record | One item of data (a JSON object) moving through the flow. Most steps receive a list of records and produce a list of records. |
| Adapter (connector) | Knows how to talk to a kind of system: its operations such as list, create, search or query. Hundreds are built in; you can add your own under Custom Integrations. |
| Connection | Your credentials for one account of a system, stored encrypted. Flows reference a connection by name and never show its secret. |
| Run (execution) | One execution of a flow. Every step's input, output, timing and any error is recorded, so you can inspect, retry or replay it. |
| Form | A hosted page that collects input from people. It can start a flow or pause a flow for a human decision. |
| Task | Work waiting for a person, created when a flow pauses on a form. |
| App | A multi-page interface (tables, charts, buttons, inputs) whose data and actions come from your flows and data tables. |
| AI agent | An assistant that uses your own AI provider account, your instructions and the tools you allow. It can be a chat page, a step in a flow or a component in an app. |
| Data table | A simple table inside the platform for reference data, mappings and state that must survive between runs. |
| On-Prem Worker | A program you run in your own network that executes flows next to your private systems. |
| Matt | The builder assistant inside the app. Matt explains, proposes changes for you to review, and guides you to the right screen. Matt never saves, publishes or runs anything by itself. |
