Discount Codes and Campaigns
Campaign codes apply at quote or line level with usage caps, validity windows, and minimum order values, and cannot stack with manual discounts at that level.
The problem
Campaign discounts handed out as manual adjustments are impossible to track and easy to combine in ways nobody approved. Marketing cannot tell whether a promotion drove deals or just gave margin away. Finance finds double discounts only after the fact.
How it works in Neblex CPQ
Discount codes in Neblex CPQ are structured objects, not free-text adjustments. A code is percentage or fixed, applies at quote or line scope, and carries max uses, effective dates, and a minimum order value. When a code is applied on a quote, the platform checks every constraint before it takes effect.
Codes are mutually exclusive with manual discounts at the same level, so a promotion cannot silently stack on top of a hand-entered discount. The per-line price waterfall shows the code adjustment alongside every other pricing step. Approvals triggered by expressions over discount percent or total can add a review step for deep discounting.
Effective dates and usage caps end a campaign cleanly without someone remembering to turn it off. Request a demo to see a code created, constrained, and applied on a live quote.
Step by step
Create the code
Choose a percentage or fixed value and quote or line scope.
Set the guardrails
Add max uses, effective dates, and a minimum order value.
Apply on the quote
The platform validates every constraint before the discount takes effect.
Check the waterfall
The code shows up as an explicit step in the per-line price waterfall.
Route exceptions
Expression-triggered approvals can review quotes where discounts cross your thresholds.

Common questions
Can a code stack with a manual discount?
Not at the same level. Discount codes are mutually exclusive with manual discounts at the same scope, so a quote-level code and a quote-level manual discount cannot combine. Combined discounting stays a deliberate policy rather than an accident.
How do campaigns end?
Each code carries effective dates and a max use count. When the window closes or the cap is reached, the code stops applying, with no manual cleanup required.
How do we keep large promotional discounts under control?
Approvals trigger on expressions over the quote, including discount percent, margin, and total. A quote that crosses your thresholds routes to approval, and the waterfall records exactly what the code changed.
