Bundle Validation and Cross-Sell

Require, exclude, and recommend rules across products keep multi-product quotes valid and surface cross-sell recommendations inline in the quote editor.

Bundle RulesQuote Editor

The problem

Multi-product quotes fail in two directions: incompatible combinations that should never ship together, and compatible add-ons that never get offered. Both depend on knowledge that lives with product specialists, not with every rep. The result is invalid orders on one side and smaller deals on the other.

How it works in Neblex CPQ

Neblex CPQ enforces compatibility with rule actions built for it: require pulls mandatory companions in, disable option blocks incompatible choices, allow option opens them under the right conditions, and violation rules raise a clear message when a combination breaks policy. The validation gate then blocks commit while any violation remains, so an invalid combination cannot reach the quote.

Recommendation rules handle the upside. When a configuration or quote matches the conditions you define, cross-sell suggestions appear inline at the moment of choice. Data-driven rules can query data tables through DQL to base recommendations on your own product relationships.

Bundling here is validation and recommendation, not pricing: each line continues to price through pricing rules, price lists, and the standard price waterfall. Configuration analytics report option pick rates and funnel drop-off so admins can tune the rules over time. Request a demo to see cross-product rules on your own catalog.

Step by step

1

Map product relationships

Capture which products require, exclude, or complement each other, using data tables where relationships are data.

2

Author compatibility rules

Use require, disable option, allow option, and violation actions to enforce valid combinations.

3

Add recommendation rules

Define the conditions under which cross-sell suggestions appear inline.

4

Build the quote

Reps add products while rules keep the combination valid and surface recommendations as they go.

5

Commit through the gate

The validation gate blocks commit while violations or conflicts remain.

6

Tune with analytics

Option pick rates show which recommendations reps and customers act on.

Common questions

Does bundle pricing come with this?

No. Bundling in Neblex CPQ is validation and recommendation: rules keep combinations valid and surface cross-sell suggestions. Each line prices independently through pricing rules, price lists, and the price waterfall.

How do reps see a recommendation?

Recommendation rules fire when the configuration or quote matches their conditions, and the suggestion appears inline in the quote editor. The rep decides whether to add it, nothing is added automatically.

What happens when someone quotes an invalid combination?

Violation rules raise a message explaining the conflict, and the validation gate blocks committing the configuration while the violation remains. The rep resolves it before the quote can move forward.
