Visual 3D Configuration

A live 3D viewer inside the configurator reacts to every choice, driven by the same rules that drive the quote and fed directly from your CAD files.

The problem

Buyers of configurable products struggle to picture what a spec sheet describes, and misread configurations surface only after the order is placed. Screenshots and static renders go stale the moment the product changes. Keeping a separate visualization tool in sync with quoting logic doubles the maintenance work.

How it works in Neblex CPQ

Neblex CPQ embeds a live 3D viewer directly inside the configurator. Rule-driven bindings react to configuration choices as they happen: pick an option and the geometry swaps, toggle a feature and parts appear or disappear. The visual and the quote run on the same rules, so what the customer sees is what the quote prices.

The CAD pipeline imports glTF, GLB, STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, PLY, FBX, DAE, USD, USDZ, and 3MF. CAD formats are converted automatically, and you can bring your own converter for anything else. Every asset is normalized to GLB with level-of-detail generation for the viewer.

Setup does not mean wiring every binding by hand: built-in binding suggestions use heuristic matching to propose links between options and geometry, and admins review, accept, or adjust each one. Request a demo and bring a CAD file to see the pipeline end to end.

Step by step

1

Import CAD assets

Upload models in glTF, GLB, STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, PLY, FBX, DAE, USD, USDZ, or 3MF. CAD formats are converted automatically.

2

Normalize to GLB

Every asset is normalized to GLB with level-of-detail generation.

3

Bind rules to geometry

Connect configuration options to geometry swaps and visibility toggles, starting from heuristic binding suggestions.

4

Configure in 3D

Reps and customers watch the product change live as they make choices.

5

Quote the configuration

The same rules that drive the viewer drive validation and pricing on the quote.

Common questions

Which file formats can we import?

The pipeline imports glTF, GLB, STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, PLY, FBX, DAE, USD, USDZ, and 3MF. CAD formats are converted automatically, and a bring-your-own converter option covers formats beyond the built-in list.

Are the binding suggestions AI?

No. Binding suggestions use heuristic matching to propose likely links between options and geometry, and an admin reviews and accepts each one. Nothing is bound without an explicit decision.

Does the 3D view stay in sync with pricing and validation?

Yes. The viewer bindings react to the same configuration choices the rule engine evaluates, so geometry, validation, and pricing always reflect the same state. There is no separate visualization model to maintain.
